Annual Report 2018

Message from the CEO

What started in November 2011 as a small nonprofit in Fayetteville North Carolina to help promote quality education for the people of Kissehman, Ghana, has grown into an international movement.  Ngorli as an organization has gone from doing projects in Kissehman to the whole of Ghana, the USA and Watford, UK.

That’s progress! I’m proud to say we’re not just aiming to promote quality education to underserved children but also to link them with their counterparts all over the world. Our growth and the demand for expansion has brought its own set of challenges which has led to decrease in the quality of our programs and interaction with our support system being it our donors, volunteers or members etc.

We invest in the future and sometimes this can be tricky since our end result is not immediate but a gradual process to perpetual solutions. Its normal for humans to react to what affects them immediately or support organizations that can give immediate but not permanent solutions. Instead of digging a well to help a village to get drinking water, we prefer to educate children to become engineers for them to dig their own wells for their community and beyond.

The fundamental problem for many children of African descent, which are our core target population is similar all over the world. Temporal solutions are becoming the norms of the day for people of African Descent, Ngorli has chosen the hard right over easy left.

Restricted access to education is one of the surest ways of transmitting poverty from generation to generation. Every girl and every boy should have the right to a quality education so that they can have more chances in life, including employment opportunities, better health, and also to participate in the political process. A poor-quality education is almost like no education

Thanks for your support and contributions, together we’ve inspired thousands of children to believe and have hope for the future -Ngorli

Mission

Ngorli believes that access to quality education is a necessity and a fundamental right for every child regardless of their constraint. Hence, Ngorli provides the means and access to quality education for children of underserved communities. We are committed to cultivating the optimum academic potential of each child.

Ngorli USA Highlights

In 2018 Ngorli opened its doors in Columbia, SC with a free afterschool program to students in 1st-5th grade. We were able to impact 105 children in all of our programs. This unique program not only focuses on academics, we immerse children in African culture and promote global awareness.

Ngorli also implemented a STEAM program which is supported by highly qualified and committed teaching staff who have partnered in our goal to provide educational opportunities to underserved and at-risk youth. Children in this program learned about aviation, website design, and provided hands-on, imaginative experience that will help open their minds to brighter futures with better job opportunities. In addition to learning science, technology, engineering, art, and math in a fun and engaging environment, we help our engineers-in-training develop problem-solving skills and discover how the world around them works.

Ngorli Ghana Program Highlights

In 2018 Ngorli Ghana was able to impact over 1000 children. Ngorli Ghana is linking underserved Ghanaian children with children in  the UK and the USA with the goal of promoting a global community, international networks, and global awareness. This linking is vital to the success of these children growing up in the 21st century. Our world is becoming more interconnected every day, we advocate the  importance of embracing different cultures for academic, social, and professional success.

Ngorli Ghana continues to sponsor children, provide and promote quality education by supporting various schools we partner with. This year we focused on STEM, though we had other programs (literacy and sports).
